Job Purpose
The General Manager at The Company will play a critical leadership role in building, developing, and sustaining strong, stable, knowledgeable, and high-performing Commercial, Technical, and Operational teams. This role is responsible for creating an ambitious, innovative, and accountable culture that challenges the business to continuously improve while delivering best-in-class sales support, service delivery, operational execution, and customer value.
A key purpose of this position is to provide transformational leadership that develops, empowers, recognises, and motivates individuals and teams to deliver higher levels of performance, personal growth, and business contribution. The General Manager will actively coach and mentor employees, create clear expectations, encourage ownership, and foster an environment where people feel valued, supported, and enabled to perform at their best.
The role will drive teamwork, value-added return on investment, standardisation, and operational efficiency while ensuring that people development and cultural transformation are central to sustainable business success. Through visible leadership, effective communication, and continuous improvement, the General Manager will help shape a resilient organisation capable of achieving growth, improving profitability, and maintaining world-class standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide operational and internal team management across seal repair, manufacturing, stores, dispatch, and associated support functions, ensuring teams are aligned, engaged, and equipped to deliver excellent performance.
  • Lead, develop, and empower Commercial, Technical, and Operational employees by setting clear direction, coaching for success, recognising individual and team contribution, and creating opportunities for growth and progression.
  • Promote a transformational leadership culture that encourages accountability, collaboration, innovation, trust, and continuous learning across THE COMPANY.
  • Build capability within the organisation by identifying skills gaps, supporting succession planning, developing talent, and ensuring employees have the knowledge, tools, and confidence required to succeed.
  • Create an environment where employees are motivated to take ownership, challenge existing ways of working, and contribute ideas that improve safety, quality, efficiency, customer service, and profitability.
  • Take accountability for overall business measurements including budget control, reporting, P&L, efficiency, profitability, and operational performance.
  • Drive process efficiency within the Manufacturing and Repair Departments through data-driven insight, strong process knowledge, lean thinking, and disciplined execution.
  • Provide effective commercial, technical, and operational support to new business development, ensuring operational capability is aligned with growth objectives and customer expectations.
  • Responsible for commercial and operations KPI management and control, ensuring performance is measured, communicated, reviewed, and improved through clear action plans.
  • For key accounts, ensure value-driven and measurable success by aligning operational delivery, customer requirements, quality standards, and commercial outcomes.
  • Support THE COMPANY sales team and, where required, integrate with THE COMPANY affiliated organisations to ensure overall business targets for new business development, commercial performance, and operational delivery are achieved.
  • Partner with HR, Legal, Quality, and Health & Safety to ensure THE COMPANY meets all compliance an assurance requirement, while coordinating with specialized personnel supporting these functions.
  • Champion effective communication across teams, ensuring employees understand business priorities, performance expectations, change initiatives, and how their role contributes to wider organisational success.
  • Recognise and celebrate success while constructively addressing underperformance through coaching, support, accountability, and fair performance management.
Health, Safety, Environment, Quality and Ethical Standards
  • Ensure site compliance with the Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, and ethical standards of the group, maintaining sustainable and world-leading standards.
  • Provide visible leadership in health, safety, quality, and ethical behaviour, ensuring these standards are embedded into daily operations and team culture.
  • Maintain a key focus on Internal Group process compliance, ensuring expectations are understood, followed, and continuously improved.
  • Maintain a key focus on ISO 9001 standards and audit readiness, supporting consistent quality performance and robust operational discipline.
  • Lead the development and continuous implementation of a robust Health and Safety programme that protects employees, promotes wellbeing, and supports a proactive safety culture.
  • Encourage employees to take personal responsibility for safety, quality, and ethical conduct while recognising positive behaviours and improvement contributions.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or MBA, in Business Management and Administration, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5–10 years’ management experience in a manufacturing, engineering, rotating equipment, or service delivery environment.
  • 5–10 years’ management experience utilising a robust ERP system.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or equivalent continuous improvement certification or demonstrable practical experience.
  • Proven experience leading, developing, motivating, and empowering teams to deliver improved performance, engagement, accountability, and growth.
  • Strong transformational leadership capability with the ability to coach individuals, build confidence, recognise contribution, and create a positive high-performance culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operational performance, budgets, P&L, KPIs, process improvement, and customer-focused service delivery.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across commercial, technical, operational, HR, legal, quality, and health and safety functions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and process knowledge to identify improvement opportunities and deliver sustainable results.
