Job description:
Role Summary/Purpose:
The Electromechanical Technician performs a wide variety of tasks both in shop and in the field involving electric motors, generators, switch gear, transformers and other powered equipment. Responsibilities include dismantling, rewinding, brazing, insulating, bracing, re-wedging, working with epoxies, retaining ring removal & refitting. Work is performed in accordance with approved instructions and direction of the shop manager.
Essential Functions:
  • Inspect motor/generator equipment for damage and evidence of malfunctions. 
  • Refurbishes, tests and rewinds motors/generators and repairs other electromechanical equipment.
  • Dismantles and/or strips damaged or unserviceable mechanical equipment.
  • Operates mobile equipment, tools & machinery efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintains clean work areas, machines and equipment.
  • Ensures correct documentation is used and filled out as specified on inspection and test plans, work instructions and any quality documents.
  • Ensures that all specified records are correctly taken, reviewed and approved.
  • Ensure that work is carried out in a safe manner and that relevant Safety and Quality documentation is complete for the task in hand.
  • Ensures all lifting equipment is correctly used, and prior to use confirms its current inspection status.
  • Ensure all work under their control is properly protected against damage while in the workshop or on site and correctly packages equipment for transport to ensure protection against damage.
  • Complete all online and classroom training sessions.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel locally when required on short notice including off hours call outs.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with maintenance, repair of electromechanical equipment and I & E experience. 
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel and general use.
  • Solid communication, planning, technical and people skills
  • Ability to demonstrate strict compliance with safety standards
  • Able to work without supervision and able to execute tasks when engaged on solo basis
  • Able to work in a team environment and cooperate with fellow workers.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in writing and verbally in English is a must.
  • Capable and qualified to perform field work.
