Well Established Client in Midland is seeking a:
Fleet Technician-Heavy Equipment
* Diagnoses, repairs and maintains client trucks and heavy equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Diagnoses equipment and vehicle malfunctions such as ignition, steering, emission control, electrical, and heating and air conditioning. Estimates costs and rebuilds to specifications.
Determines the appropriateness of off-site repairs such as oil and filter changes, tires and mufflers. Inspects vehicles for state stickers.
Determines readiness and fitness of new vehicles. Installs special equipment.
Employee must provide own hand tools.
Client supplies major equipment including power tools, computerized analyzers, and other diagnostic equipment. Reads blueprints, electrical diagrams, manuals and other specifications in order to make repairs.
Performs emergency repairs for various departments.
Cleans and maintains shop facilities, equipment, tools and grounds.
Maintains records of work performed such as work orders, logs, historical information, and special written requests.
Change transmission oils and filters in the absence of other personnel.
Performs other related duties assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management and vendors in order to diagnose repairs and order materials for repair.
Employee also communicates with other employees in the work group and in other departments. Must be able to work well as a team and employee must conduct themselves at a professional level at all times. Employee must stay productive and complete work assignments in a safe and timely manner.
Associate's degree specializing in diesel technology is a plus, but not required.
Basic computer skills, Excel, Microsoft office, Windows, Knowledge of repair software such as Insight, Ned, and diesel software a plus but not required.
Knowledge of proper tools used in welding and fabricating parts and equipment.
Ability to safely use tools, vehicles and equipment such as emissions and battery testers, electronic oscilloscopes and brake lathes, bench grinders, lifts and jacks, air conditioning and recovery systems, trucks, tractors, forklifts and hand tools such as air tools and welding and cutting torches.
Skill in reading and practical application of manuals, blueprints and other similar specifications used by various client departments.
Ability to read, measure and calculate types and sizes of materials needed and ability to reason amount of time that will be used in the actual fabrication process.
High school diploma or GED required.
Prefer on to three years training as a mechanic or in a related field.
Valid Texas Class A CDL Driver's License within one year of employment.
Texas Department of Public Safety Inspector Certificate required within one year of employment.
