A Bridge Crane Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electric overhead traveling (EOT) cranes, also known as bridge cranes, and their associated hoisting mechanisms.

Responsibilities
- Inspections and Maintenance: Performing daily pre-shift inspections, conducting regular preventative maintenance on hoists, including checking electrical components (motors, wiring), mechanical parts (chains, wire ropes, gears, brakes, hooks, limit switches), and structural integrity. Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment, including lubrication, tightening bolts, inspecting wire ropes, and checking fluid levels. They also perform load certification tests and post-repair audits.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and structural issues on cranes and hoists. This includes troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits, motors, gears, hydraulic systems, and brakes, and replacing defective parts.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate service records, including work orders, inspection reports, and repair logs. They document findings, recommended actions, and communicate with customers and management.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhering to all safety regulations and standards, such as OSHA and ANSI guidelines, ensuring proper rigging and load handling practices, and potentially operating equipment like forklifts.
- Operational Support: Operate support equipment like manlifts and service trucks as needed and maintain company-issued equipment. Effective communication with colleagues and customers is essential.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly and keeping customers informed. They also consult with customers on repair and safety issues.
Qualifications
- Experience (typically 1-3 years) in service or heavy equipment maintenance is often necessary.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems, including motor control systems, is important.
- The ability to read schematics, troubleshoot independently, and potentially perform welding are beneficial skills.
