Position Summary
- The Inspection Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of inspection equipment and support machinery used in pipe yard operations.
- This position ensures all inspection systems, hydraulic power units, hydro testers, cleaning machines, bucking units, forklifts, utility vehicles, and related equipment remain safe, reliable, and operational.
- The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills and have experience performing routine maintenance, repairs, and equipment inspections in an industrial environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on all inspection and production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Maintain and repair EMI inspection equipment and associated support systems.
- Service and maintain pipe cleaning machines, hydrotest units, bucking machines, and material handling equipment.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic power units (HPUs), pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, hoses, and fittings.
- Perform routine oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and lubrication programs.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, leaks, and safety concerns.
- Maintain forklifts, Kubota utility vehicles, generators, compressors, and other support equipment.
- Replace bearings, chains, sprockets, belts, rollers, seals, and other mechanical components.
- Read hydraulic schematics, equipment manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize operational downtime.
- Maintain maintenance logs, service records, and equipment inspection reports.
- Coordinate with operations personnel to schedule repairs and maintenance activities.
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance parts, fluids, and consumables.
- Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic systems and hydraulic power units.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance programs.
- Knowledge of lubrication systems, oil changes, and fluid management.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Preferred
- Experience in pipe yards, oilfield service facilities, machine shops, or industrial maintenance.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Forklift maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of EMI inspection equipment and hydrotesting systems.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience involving motors, sensors, and control systems.
- OSHA safety training or industrial maintenance certifications.
