IT Specialist / Marketing - Pricing Assistant / Customer Service Representative
Job Summary:
We are seeking a tech-savvy individual to blend the responsibilities of a customer service leadership role with an IT specialist with a desire to learn. Assisting our stores with technical, detail-oriented and analytical expertise expected from an IT professional to support our retail store level management team, ensure the effective delivery of IT-related services by assisting in all levels of installation and maintenance of POS systems across our retail locations. As well as enhancing our customer experience by working closely with marketing, accounting and IT to ensure smooth pricing operations by providing the information necessary to analyze and manage our retail operation cost structure, such as margin analysis, as well as ensuring accurate and competitive pricing. This role plays a critical part in driving financial accuracy and business insights to be used for decision-making.
 The ideal candidate should possess leadership skills, technical prowess, and a passion for enhancing customer experience through innovative IT solutions; as well as organized, creative, and eager to learn, with strong communication and multitasking skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain POS hardware and software across all store locations.
  • Provide first-level support for POS system issues, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connectivity problems as well as address recurring technical issues and improve service quality.
  • Train staff and management on proper usage and best practices for the POS system.
  • Perform regular system updates, backups, and performance monitoring.
  • Assist in monitoring and implementing regular as well as promotional pricing in all databases as well as retail systems to ensure accuracy and compliance. Identify pricing / cost discrepancies and escalate issues for resolution.
  • Customize menus, pricing, promotions, and receipt templates based on business needs.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Support rollout of new store openings and system upgrades.
  • Monitor and ensure PCI compliance and data security related to POS operations.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive analysis to support pricing decisions.
  • Track marketing campaign performance and prepare analytics reports on pricing effectiveness, price changes and margin impacts.
  • Set up items and maintain pricing for all markets.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as managing and maintaining documentation for pricing approvals and change logs and maintaining marketing calendars as well as ad hoc administrative tasks and projects.
  • Assist in monitoring cost of goods sold (COGS) across retail locations and product categories
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including inventory valuation and cost adjustments
  • Assist with reconciling inventory between general ledger and sub-ledger systems
  • Assist with investigating cost variances and report on inventory shrinkage, obsolescence, and margins
  • Participate in system upgrades and process improvements related to inventory and cost 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in retail environments. 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop skills through on-the-job training.
  • Excellent written / verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy and ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Understanding of payment processing, PCI compliance, and EMV systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)).
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and inventory management
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of IT systems, networking, and troubleshooting principles.
  • Technical knowledge of POS hardware (printers, scanners, cash drawers, etc.).
  • Familiarity with networking, databases, and cloud-based POS platforms.
  • Ability to train non-technical users.
  • Willing to travel to store locations out of the Odessa/Midland area as needed.
Work Environment:
  • Mostly Odessa Office – some on-site depending on location and issue. 
  • May require on-call availability for critical IT issues
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in retail, pricing, IT support, customer service or administrative support role.
  • Understanding a multi-location POS and inventory management software a plus.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices in customer service environments a plus.
